Summary

Give Me 5 is a free mobile app that shows the 5 closest NOAA weather radars to your current location. We collect as little as possible: your device's location (used only on your device to compute distances), and standard crash diagnostics. We do not require an account, do not collect your name or email, and do not sell data.

Data we collect

We collect only the following:

• Device location (latitude and longitude) — used only on your device to calculate distances to weather radars. Not transmitted to our servers.
• Crash diagnostics — when the app crashes, anonymized crash reports including device model, OS version, and stack trace are sent to Firebase Crashlytics so we can fix bugs.
• Ad performance metrics — Google AdMob collects standard advertising identifiers and impression data to serve ads and pay the developer. You can limit ad tracking via your device's system settings.

We do not collect:

• Your name, email address, or phone number
• Your contacts, photos, microphone, or camera data
• Browsing history or activity outside the app
• Any personal identifiers beyond what's needed for ad serving

Location data

The app requests permission to access your device's location. When granted:

• Your GPS coordinates are read once per refresh and used locally on your device to find the 5 closest NOAA weather radars from a bundled list.
• Your coordinates are never sent to our servers. We don't operate servers that receive location data.
• If you use the Map view, your coordinates are passed to the Google Maps SDK to render the map and pin your position. This is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
• You may revoke location permission at any time in your device's system settings; the app will then not be able to show nearby radars.

Third-party services

The app uses the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy, linked below.

• Google Firebase / Crashlytics — anonymized crash reporting (Privacy Policy)
• Google Maps SDK — renders the map view; receives your location only while the map is open (Privacy Policy)
• Google AdMob — serves ads and reports performance back to Google (Privacy & Terms)
• NOAA / NWS RIDGE — radar images are fetched directly from public NOAA weather servers. Your IP address is visible to NOAA when fetching imagery (Privacy Policy)

Advertising

The free version of Give Me 5 shows two types of ads, served by Google AdMob:

• One App Open ad when the app launches or returns from background
• One Interstitial ad the first time you open a radar in a session

AdMob uses your device's advertising identifier to personalize ads. You can opt out of personalized ads or reset/limit your advertising identifier via your device's system settings (Settings → Privacy → Ads on iOS, or Settings → Privacy → Ads on Android).

You can permanently remove all ads via the in-app "Remove Ads" purchase. This purchase persists across reinstalls on the same store account.

Children's privacy

Give Me 5 is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

California & EU privacy rights

If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete it, and the right to opt out of "sale" (we do not sell personal information).

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to access, correct, delete, and port your data. The lawful basis for our limited processing is legitimate interest (crash reporting and ad serving) and consent (location access).

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy occasionally. Significant changes will be communicated via an in-app notice. The "Last updated" date at the top will always reflect the most recent version.
